With the odds figuring in its favor, Exeter won three singles matches to wrap up its third straight Berks Girls Tennis League title Tuesday at Fleetwood.

The Eagles got straight-set wins from Berks champ Sammi Snyder, Berks runner-up Alexis Cramer and Berks flight three champion Corinne Grohoski to beat a young, up-and-coming Wyomissing team 3-2.

It was a nice Berks finale for Exeter's senior-led team and a great experience for the Spartans, who have no seniors in their starting lineup and figure to be the team to beat next season in the Berks League.

Snyder, a senior and defending District 3-AAA champion, defeated sophomore Alexandra Jadic 6-1, 6-1.

That happened about the same time the deeper Spartans took both doubles matches, giving the Spartans 2-1 lead.

Juniors Leah McAvoy and Julia Herb defeated senior Sai Kurapati and freshman Neha Adda 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles and junior Claire Ziolkowski and sophomore Vittoria D'Addesi topped sophomores Yashica Kagithapu and Ryan Breton 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2.

But the remaining matches were in singles, the Eagles' strength.

Cramer, a sophomore, defeated junior Anna Kate Schreck 6-3, 6-1. And Grohoski, a senior and three-time flight champion, clinched it, defeating sophomore Mackenzie Reese 6-2, 6-1.

Grohoski suffered through a tough phase midseason but has bounced back, winning flight three last week - her third flight title in four seasons.
